This month (October) I’ll be trying to run five miles every day. Why not eh?
Truth be told, I have a couple of reasons. Firstly, I’m trying to build some consistency in my running. The blog has helped with making me accountable but sometimes I find I lack purpose. A reason to leave my warm bed or sofa before work.
This leads me to my second reason. My dad. A few times recently my dad has mentioned that as a kid, he was a good little runner. This stemmed from him having to run 5 miles everyday before school to get some groceries and stuff. This was back in Barbados. He’d sometimes get chased by dogs and the weather was not always favourable. But he had to go.
So I thought that if a young Tony could manage it. Why not give it a go myself.
Day 1 was OK. But I tan into a friend who was out running in the opposite direction. And me being me, I said “hey, I’ll run with you for a bit” ended up tagging an extra 1.8 miles onto my first attempt at 5 miles. 6.8 done. Foolishly.
Today was day 2 and a reluctantly headed out for my 5. Felt real good actually. Bit as I’m laying here in bed right now. My legs are feeling pretty trashed. It is JAFFA club night tomorrow. I feel I should make an appearance....we’ll see.

I'm a runner, cyclist and lazy bones. Tapering since 2011. I race for fun, but rarely train. I'll pause to take a great selfie before I get that PB. Life's too short to run fast!
